A German photographer who caused havoc at the World Cup draw in Cape Town last week after allegedly pretending he had a bomb in his bag was granted bail by a court in the city Monday.
Bernd Fischer, 68, faces charges under South Africa's Explosives Act over a bomb scare at the Cape Town International Convention Centre on Friday, a few hours before the World Cup draw.
Police say Fischer on entering the building claimed that he had an explosive device in his bag and dropped his bag and tried to flee.
The scare forced the evacuation of part of the centre for close to an hour while police with sniffer dogs swept the area for a bomb.
If convicted of offences under the Explosives Act, he could face jail time, police said.
