Japan will face Uruguay next month in a warmup for its next 2010 World Cup qualifier against Bahrain, the Japan Football Association said Friday.
Japan will host the South Americans on Aug. 20 at Sapporo Dome before facing Bahrain on Sept. 6 in Manama in its first final round Group A qualifying match.
"It will be the first and last test before the final round of qualifiers begins," said Japan coach Takeshi Okada. "It will be an important match for us."
Australia, Qatar and Uzbekistan are also in Group A.
